Making Sure

pastor1Making Sure

I could think of no other words that would be the most horrifying to ever hear than Jesus spoke when He said,”… I never knew you: depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.”  The individual who hears these words will then be catapulted into the hopelessness of eternal damnation and torment.  These words were directed at individuals who are outwardly religious but have never had a true encounter with God. Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does  the will of my Father in heaven.  In other words, it is the one who is obedient to obey Gods word.  James 1:22 states plainly, But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.  The word “deceiving” is a word used in mathematics to refer to a miscalculation.  Professing Christians who are content with only hearing the Word have made a miscalculation.   Professing Christians who are content with only hearing the Word have made a serious spiritual miscalculation; these words are strong, but true.  The miscalculation is that the individual thinks they have a relationship with Christ but they are actually lost.  Many can actually do things that look religious or spiritual, such as attending church regularly, singing in the choir, serving in the Usher ministry, serving as an officer in a ministry and even preaching.  Don’t be like those Jesus said boasted about”doing many wonderful works in His name…” who placed their whole confidence in their works apart from genuine faith.  The problem with those individuals was they were deluded into thinking they were doing what pleases God by their performance.  I am asking that everyone will throughly examine their own heart to see if you are truly striving to be obedient and live by the Word of God.  If you are confident in your own efforts apart from a genuinely true relationship with Jesus Christ, I pray that these words will cause you to tremble with fear, and that you will not rest until you totally surrender to the Lord.  I hope these words will make you think about what would happen if you were to die today, would Jesus say unto you, “depart from me, I never knew you.”  I say these words to you with utmost seriousness and sincerity; because eternity is an extremely long time.

Your servant in Christ,

Pastor James Moore, Jr.
