Good Morning! Today’s devotional meditation is taken from Romans 12:9a, which says,
“Let love be genuine…”
The book of Romans is divided into two parts. The first part is doctrinal. It presents How God brought about our great Salvation (Chapters 1-11). The second part is practical. It presents how the believer is to live out their salvation. Verses 4-8 presents that the believer is enabled by the gifts of the Spirit live out the traits that characterize the Christian. We now have the ability to live supernaturally because we are aided by the Holy Spirit.
Love is the chief virtue that focuses on well-being and necessities of others. This love must not be focused on one’s self. We are commanded to love one another (John 13:35); and to love our enemies (Matthew 5:44). The great thing is that the Lord does not expect us to carry this out by our flesh. When we are seeking to live by and be controlled by the Holy Spirit, we have the ability to love everyone. Our supreme example is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; His unselfishness love brought Him all the way down from Heaven to die on a cross and be raised in order to give us, the wretched and miserable, eternal life. We look like Christ when our love is genuine.
