Good Morning! Today’s devotional meditation is taken from 1 Samuel 30:6, which says,

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because of the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”

At some point, we may find ourselves alone without anyone to stand with us. That is the predicament David found himself in. It is during those times when the closeness of our relationship with the LORD, and our knowledge of who He is and what He is able to do will be the only thing we have to hold onto.

David faced a daunting dilemma, the wives and children of him and his fighting force had been taken captive, and their camp had been burned. His men also turned against him and wanted to kill him. The only thing he could do was recall the LORD’s past mercies and deliverances in his life. David relied on the LORD’s faithfulness in order to gain the courage to hold on in the face of great opposition. Let us also remember and rely on the LORD’s faithfulness in our times of distress.

Blessings.
