Today’s devotional meditation is taken from Matthew 6:14-15, which says,
“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you, (15) but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
Forgiveness is an absolute necessity for the child of God. We must think about if our Heavenly Father has forgiven us of all of our sins, who are we to walk around not forgiving our brothers and sisters in Christ their sins against us.
As believers, we should forgive as those who have received Judicial forgiveness from God. We must also learn to weigh everything against the backdrop of eternity. I always say, “a thousand years from now, is it going to matter anyway?” Forgiveness is necessary because it keeps us in right fellowship with the Lord. When we are in right fellowship with Him our prayers are answered and we experience great blessings from Him. We must ask the Lord to help us overcome the burden of un-forgiveness.
