Today’s devotional meditation is taken from Psalm 34:8, which says,

“O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.”

David had found himself in a situation that was extremely dangerous (1 Samuel 21). He had no way out, and He could have been killed. He was in a situation that only the LORD could deliver him out of. The LORD stepped in and rescued him right on time.

This psalm expresses his extreme gratitude and praise to the LORD for His gracious loving-kindness and tender mercies. David commands the readers of this psalm to recognize by their experiences with the LORD just how good He is.

Let’s be honest, we have been in some situations that only the LORD was able to get us out of. We have been in situations that our rebelliousness caused us us to be in, in the first place, and the LORD graciously delivered us. It is during those times we have to take refuge in Him. We are overmatched. We do not have the ability to bring ourselves out. It is necessary for us to surrender and trust Him for help. He has always done for us in spite of us.

What a great LORD and Savior!
