Today’s devotional meditation is taken from Psalm 13:1-2, which says,
“How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? Forever? How long wilt thou hide Thy face from me? (2) How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?“
At some point in the life of a believer, we will come to a dark place; it will seem like the Lord has overlooked our discouraging circumstances. We may question His dealings with us as we languish in our despondency.
It is during those times that we must follow David’s example of remembering the LORD’s graciousness in our lives and His past mercies that delivered us. In verses 5-6, David remembered that He had trusted in the LORD’s mercies. He remembered the LORD’s ability to hold him during His moment of anguish. He then began to rejoice because He remembered that the LORD had always dealt with him graciously. He trusted that the LORD would do it again.
Let us remember that the LORD has done and will do the same for us as well. Trust Him no matter how deep your despair is. He is faithful.
