Today’s devotional meditation is taken from 2 Corinthians 12:10, which says,
“For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (ESV).
It was not for the pain only that Paul was pleased to endure, but it was for the result that the power of Christ produced in Him that brought him joy.
We must come to the place where we see that the Lord is able to take those things that are hard to bear and use them to bring out of us that which we could never produce in and of ourselves in order to bring glory to Him. The natural impulse of human nature is to resist anything that is painful, uncomfortable or distressful. But, as we grow in our relationship with Christ, and the more knowledge we gain through His Word, we can see that pain has an amazing purpose in the life of the believer.
God has shown us that He has the ability to give us that which human ability cannot produce. The startling thing is that our weakness produces strength so that we can serve. This is done on behalf of Christ.
Keep pressing forward!
