Today’s devotional meditation is taken from Hebrews 4:15-16, which says,

For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. (16) Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help it time of need.

Life can be filled with all kinds of dilemmas that can leave us in a state of confusion and despair. We are often hit with disappointments in life that can be very debilitating. When we are hit with intense adversity in this life it is so very comforting to know that our great High Priest has endured pain and despair just like we do. Therefore, we are able to confidently approach God’s throne of grace where we can receive the strength we need to keep moving forward.

It is impossible to try to make it through this life without the grace that God provides for us in order to make it. We are helpless, and when we rely on our own ability to pull ourselves through, we will ultimately be fail. We often hear cliches that tell us to “pull ourselves up by our bootstraps.” No where in Scripture does God tell us to do that. He tells us to trust in Him with all our hearts. He then provides the grace we need in our weaknesses.

Be strengthened and encouraged in Christ,
