Today’s devotional meditation is taken from Psalm 103:8, which declares:

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

If in our lives we ever feel that God is not fair or He is dealing with us in a harsh way, we are totally off base. The words of David vividly exposes the extreme kindness of God toward His own.  David is expressing these words based upon what he has witnessed in his life of God’s character.  We too must be honest of the fact, that the LORD shows great “mercy” unto His own.

He knows our great distresses and inabilities, which causes Him to hold us up in times of great weakness.  We experience on a daily basis, His abundant kindness, favor, which we do not deserve.  If we are honest with ourselves, we do not deserve all that He gives and does for us.  If we truly look at the waywardness of our hearts, He has proven to us that He is “slow to anger”. He bears long with us, allowing us time to come to our senses and repent before He has to deal with us.  We know that our actions and attitudes at times are horrendous, and the LORD, patiently and lovingly holds back from us His anger, that is His right to chasten us.

Finally, David declares that the LORD is “Plenteous in mercy”.  The Lord abounds in mercy.  the LORD is loyal to His own.  He tenderly, mercifully, and faithfully carries out His loving plan to care for, provide and protect His own.  Today and always we must celebrate our Awesome god!

Have a great day,
