Today’s devotional meditation is taken from Philippians 2:14 which says,
Do all things without grumbling or disputing…
It is a sad testimony for believers to gripe and whine about everything. You and I may know those who are chronic complainers. They find fault with everything. It is not pretty. It is those individuals who are not aware of God’s providence, His will, or His circumstances for their lives. Complaining is actually an emotional rejection of God’s will in one’s life. When a believer is a constant complainer he or she is a poor witness to the unbeliever. It gives the impression that God is not able to hold them up, and give them the strength to make it through life’s stress. We must pursue godliness even during the most intense situations in our lives. I have lived long enough to know that complaining does not change my situation; in fact it may prolong my problem because of my lack of trust in the Lord’s providence for my life.
James 1:2-4 provides the contrast for the believer. We are to consider our hardships with a joyful confidence in the Lord because of the effect of spiritual maturity God is producing in the believer. We must also understand that the unbeliever is an habitual grumbler. We should never want to be compared with that attitude. Think about all of the blessing the Lord is providing for your right now, and start rejoicing.
Have a blessed day.
