Today’s devotional meditation is taken from Lamentations 3:25, which says,

The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.

Jeremiah the prophet had just witnessed the most devastating destruction of the Temple and his homeland. There was great mourning in the land because of their deportation to Babylon.  However, Jeremiah offers a word of exhortation and encouragement to the readers of his prophecy by getting them to see that their only hope was to wait on the LORD and to seek Him while enduring the devastation.

Jeremiah expressed to them that the LORD is good regardless of the situation. Jeremiah declares that even in the midst of the ruin, the LORD extends His benefit to those who wait on Him, and those that trust in Him.  There are times we must come to grips with the fact that when we are in a situation where there is nothing we can do to get out of, it is best that we wait patiently for the LORD to aid and strengthen us.

The LORD uses the tragic situations that come in our lives to cause us to refocus and to direct our attention to Him, in seeking Him for guidance. It is always better to seek Him because He is our only hope.  He is able to help us to endure those times of despair.  Sometimes, it is not until we are in a devastating situation that we turn all of our attention to the LORD.  That is a good thing.

God bless you!
