6 I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears; I drench my couch with my weeping. 7 My eye wastes away because of grief; it grows weak because of all my foes.
Your Scripture for today is Psalm 6. As you know, at times Christians can become so overwhelmed that we can get into a state of hopelessness and sometimes depression. It can cause us to lose sleep and even feel abandoned. The psalmist David was in a state of great despair. He realized that He was totally focused on his situation and cries out for the Lord’s mercy, and calls unto the Lord to be gracious unto him while He is going through his distress. His enemies were the source of this great despair.
We will all face attacks from the outside that will cause us great grief on the inside. It is in those situations where time seems to move slow. In verse 8, David calls to his remembrance the faithfulness of His Lord. He knew the Lord would hear and answer his prayer. He knew the Lord would deliver him out of his anguish. It is good to know from our past experiences with our Lord, to remember that He has been there for us to deliver us in our times of great difficulty, that we gain confidence in knowing that He will not leave us in our downtrodden moments, nor will He forsake us. I am encouraging you to do what Peter commands us to do in 2 Peter 3:18 when he says, “But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
God bless you!
