Psalm 44 ESV    …Awake! Why are you sleeping, O Lord? Rouse yourself! Do not reject us forever! 24  Why do you hide your face? Why do you forget our affliction and oppression? 25    For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly clings to the ground. 26  Rise up; come to our help! Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!

Good Morning!

Your meditational thought for today is from Psalm 44. This psalm expresses a time of national mourning. The psalmist is perplexed by the fact that the nation experienced some great defeat in a national battle. They did not understand why they were defeated. The nation expressed their faithfulness to God. The people expressed their confidence in the Lord based upon His past beneficial dealings with them.

We too may become confused when we are experiencing defeat, hardship, struggles and difficulties. We may not know of any rebellion that we have committed, but there are attacks that are continually being launched at us and we are confused. It is then our responsibility to remain faithful and obedient to the Lord. It is our responsibility to remember His past deliverance’s and then it is our responsibility to know that He is still extending His mercy unto us, because it is not as bad as it could be. We are still here. There are times we may scratch our heads wondering why God is allowing me to go through our predicaments?

The only thing that we need to do is to continue being still and knowing that He is God. That simply means, God knows what is best for us, and that He is able to help us endure the trial until it is His will to deliver us. May the Lord bless you and keep you, and make His face to shine upon you and give you peace.
