But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen. II Peter 3:18

There are at times in the life of a Christian that he or she will make a statement by saying, “I’m not there yet” or “God is still working on me.” And many times that statement is made when the individual notices that there is an area of spiritual growth that has not been measured up to at that point.  They will notice that they have failed in a particular area and then begin to realize that there is still some growth that has to take place in their life.  Now, there should come a time when the individual has to grow beyond the elementary stages of their Christian walk.

It is important to know that every genuine believer is still in the process of growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Therefore, it is an ongoing process give maximum effort to seek the enhancement one’s spiritual growth.  It is imperative that every believer brings to a halt the making excuses as to why they are continuing in a state of spiritual infancy, and begin pursuing the course of action needed to stimulate growth, such as seeking the Lord in prayer and being diligent in the study of His Word.  It is no secret that there will be challenges that every believer will face as he or she seeks to live for Christ, and may even cause us to act out of character, or even discourage us.  If so we must begin to rely on the power of the Scriptures, and not only read them, but to strive to live according to His Word.  Every child of God must be persistent in prayer, seeking His will and help for our lives.

It is only when we run from the things that we know that we are supposed to do in order to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord.  If we are always finding other things to do when we should be taking time to know the Lord, is it any wonder that we are not where we could be spiritually.  I’ve often times said; we make time for everything we want to do.  If it’s going to a movie, we take however many hours to go to that movie; we get there early and sit through the whole movie.  If it’s going to dinner, we open our schedules to go to dinner; even though we say that our schedules are so busy and that we don’t have time for much else.  If it’s the Lakers playing the New York Knicks or the Oklahoma Thunder playing the Miami Heat, we will sit there for three hours and watch those games until the final buzzer.  But when it comes time to study God’s Word, we take on the attitude, “I don’t have time, I’m too busy, I need to get some rest because I have to go to work tomorrow.”  Is it any wonder why you have not gotten to the place where you need to be? If you are not where you need to be, it is your fault.
